With the advent of the coronavirus pandemic last year, KFC had decided to temporarily remove its famous slogan: ‘It’s good to suck your fingers’ to encourage users to wash their hands and maintain hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus. A year later, the company has decided to bring it back when restaurants in England reopen this week. It will also be part of the brand’s new ad titled ‘Your chicken could never’.
Featuring a Barry White soundtrack, the ad is out now and involves hungry diners calling 999 to receive their KFC orders as soon as possible. It has been broadcast through radio, television, social media, and digital media. However, the motto is only present in some of its editions.
It has been created by the digital agency Mother. KFC UK & Ireland Marketing Director Jack Hinchcliffe mentioned that this new campaign wants to honor all loyal KFC fans who supported the company despite the removal of its iconic tagline. Added to this, the company has also blurred its logo adding that customers should ignore what the brand has always been saying. Right now, this time, hygiene is very important.
Also, in early 2021, KFC released a new ad announcing that it was back for all its fans. Not all countries face the adversity of the pandemic at this time.
