The second wave of the nasty coronavirus pandemic has just hit India, and cities like Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal have been hit hard. The country has seen more than 2 billion new cases and several edaths in recent weeks. While social media is surely helping people connect with each other and help out during emergencies, food delivery giant Zomato just introduced a new feature to help everyone in need.

It seems that our saviors from hunger will not be our real life heroes helping those left alone or with family. A priority delivery feature has been inserted, especially for COVID emergencies. It will help people infected with COVID obtain necessary food and supplies when needed, without coming into contact with the delivery partner. Also, if you stay in a town that has hostile neighbors, Zomato will surely come to your rescue.

The founder, Deepinder Goyal, explained in more detail how these orders will be delivered quickly, as thousands of restaurants have now made it a priority to help customers with their needs, especially during these difficult times.

He concludes by thanking all the restaurants that have joined Zomato to implement this program and help customers in most cities in India.

While users are delighted with this new initiative, some even fear misuse by certain people who would use this feature just to get faster delivery than others; despite being in a difficult situation or not.

Some users even suggested that passengers could verify COVID patient reports to ensure authenticity, as most reports come in PDF format.

What do you think of the new Zomato feature? How would you use it and spread awareness about its usefulness?
