Buying your dream home has always been at the top of the to-do list for many of us. However, the onset of the pandemic could have made the dream more difficult to fulfill. People have been struggling to earn a decent living after the pandemic, much less to save for a future home.

But it seems that, after all, it may not be that difficult to buy your dream home in the most beautiful destination. According to recent news, another Sicilian city of Italy is to put houses for sale at the price of a cup of coffee. Castiglione of Sicily, a town on the slopes of Mount Etna, near elegant Taormina and the beaches of Sicily’s east coast, has around 900 abandoned houses available.

Of the 900 houses, half are in ruins and not in good condition and will be given away at a symbolic price of € 1 (90 rupees). While the rest are in better condition and will be sold at a not very expensive price, but in the range of € 4,000- € 5,000 (Rs 3.5 Lakhs to Rs 4.5 Lakhs approximately).

Speaking of the € 1 houses, Mayor Antonino Camarda explained the reason for selling the house at such a low price. He said that the city has a huge architectural heritage to rescue, full of history. Over time too many people have left, leaving behind a bunch of quaint old houses, many even dating back to the Renaissance, which is definitely of great value.

In fact, this is not the first time that an Italian city has sold its houses at such a low price. Previously, Salemi and Bisaccia, other Italian cities, also sold their houses at considerably low prices.

So what do you think? Are you ready to buy a house in one of these abandoned towns?
